Day 7: Transfiguring transformations

Wedding church at Cana
It happened in those days that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized in the Jordan by John.  On coming up out of the water he saw the heavens being torn open and the Spirit, like a dove, descending upon him.   And a voice came from the heavens, “You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.”

Mark 1:9-11

Today was a day of sacraments and miracles.  We started our day with a visit to The Wedding church at Cana where they have one of the jugs where Jesus changed water to wine.  Also while we were visiting all married couples were invited to renew their wedding vows.  All married couples whose spouse wasn't here and all widows/widowers were given a special blessing.

The lovely couples who renewed their wedding vows.
The tiny bump you see at the top is actually the giant church.

We moved onward and upward to Mount Tabor to visit the Church of Transfiguration and we realized that this mountain climb is no small feat.

Mass in the church of the Mount of Transfiguration.

Our last stop of the day was to the Jordan River at Yardinet.  We renewed our baptismal promises and some of us decided to try out submersion while others were happy with a little sprinkling.

Mary is the first for submersion.

Goodbye Nazareth!
